How To Look At Art

As a quick exercise in designing a “how to”, I explored ideas for confidence boosting resource for museum visitors. The final solution took two forms – an exhibit in the main gallery and a free booklet for visitor to use as they wander around the museum.

The approach includes a gallery cube in the museum lobby or large gallery for visitors to immerse themselves with general tips and quotes from industry professionals, then booklets are provided for visitors to take and fill out as they find artworks that they want to have a deepened experience with. The visual direction is bold to capture attention, black & white to allow the art to shine, and simple to encourage approachability.
